I’m always on the lookout for lovely places to meet people as well as places where I can just get out my laptop and work in peace and quiet. Of course it’s a bonus if I can eat delicious food and drink great coffee while I’m at it.

Well at Book and Kitchen, it seems you really can have it all. This beautiful bookshop and café is can be found just a stone’s throw from Portobello Market. The owners are lovely, welcoming you with huge smiles, and the shop is filled with books and other literary treats (I spotted two vintage typewriters upstairs that I was just dying to play with).

The whole place is decked out with the most beautiful furniture and artwork – and when the sun shines they have a gorgeous outside terrace. I was completely smitten. So much so that I almost wanted to live there. The food – fresh baked cakes and plentiful salads – looked delicious. I can’t wait to go back.
